Thermal

Some curtain cloths are made to help with heat from the sun. If a room runs hot in the afternoon, ask which thermal options are available and how they compare with a dim-out or blackout.

Heat at the window

Phuket sun can load a west- or east-facing room. A denser or specially backed cloth may take the edge off that heat. It is not a substitute for glazing or air-conditioning, and we do not quote a temperature drop.

The right question is whether a thermal option, a dim-out, or a blackout is the more useful path for that window. Samples and the way the sun hits the glass are the guide.

Ask before assuming a rating

We do not list laboratory figures or brand certifications here. If a thermal cloth is on hand, we will show it and explain what it is meant to do in ordinary home use.

Share photos of the hot window and tell us when the room feels worst. That is enough to start a useful conversation.

A good fit when

  • Rooms that overheat in afternoon or morning sun
  • Openings where you already want a heavier curtain for privacy
  • Homes comparing dim-out, blackout, and a thermal option

What helps us advise you

  • Which windows run hottest, and at what time of day
  • Photos of those openings
  • Whether privacy and darkness matter as much as heat
