Dimout
Dim-out cloth cuts glare and takes the edge off strong sun without aiming for a fully dark room. It is a middle path between a sheer and a blackout.
Light control without a cave
Dim-out is often chosen for living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms that still want some daylight. It reduces brightness and helps with screens, without the heavier feel of a blackout.
The result still depends on colour, lining, and how well the curtain covers the edges of the opening. We look at that with the actual window in mind.
Sheers, dim-out, or blackout
If you like a glow in the room, start with dim-out. If you need the room dark for sleep or a projector, look at blackout. Many homes use a sheer plus one of the two.
Ask to see samples together. A photo helps, but the cloth in your hand is the clearer test.
A good fit when
- Bright living rooms that need less glare
- Bedrooms that want shade without a fully dark space
- Layered windows with a sheer in front
What helps us advise you
- Which way the window faces, if you know, and how harsh the sun feels
- Whether you also want a sheer layer
- If the room is for daytime living, sleep, or both
