Curtain styles
French Pleat
French pleat stands in close, upright folds at the heading. It reads more formal than a simple pinch and suits rooms that want a dressed, precise line.
A more formal fold
The pleats sit tightly and stand at the top of the curtain, then fall in even columns. The look is often chosen for living rooms, guest rooms, and villa windows where the heading is on show.
It needs enough fabric fullness to look right. We talk through that when we look at the opening and the cloth.
When to choose it
If you like pinch pleat but want a more upright, ceremonial heading, French pleat is the next step. It still works with sheers and with heavier drapes.
Hardware should support the extra body at the heading. Share photos of the window wall so we can see how much stack space you have.
A good fit when
- Living rooms and villa windows that want a dressed, precise heading
- Heavier drapes where the fold should stand rather than slouch
- Projects comparing pinch pleat with a more formal alternative
What helps us advise you
- Photos of the window and the space beside it for stacking
- The fabric weight you have in mind, if you know it
- Whether the room is for everyday family use or a more formal setting
